The Government of Maharashtra with the aim and vision to spread Technical Education in rural and tribal areas of the state of Maharashtra founded Government College Of Engineering, Karad in 1960.The College is affiliated to Shivaji University, Kolhapur and is acting as a vital education center for many years. Over the years the college has produced about 7200 engineers and more than 300 computer professionals through Master of Computer Application course which is unique in Engineering faculty under Shivaji University. Along with the degree courses in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Information Technology and Electronics & Telecommunication, the college also offers PG programs in different specializations in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering and Information Technology. Vision of the Institute "To emerge as a Technical- Institution of National repute driven by excellence in imparting value-based education and innovation in research, to face the global needs of the profession."
GCEK was established in 1960, the institute in last 60 years has blossomed into a major education centre essentially due to the combined efforts of a very dedicated team of staff and students who are committed to the overall development of institute. The institute has produced outstanding engineers, who have successfully proved their professional competence in their respective disciplines. The institute lays special emphasis on human values, ethics, apart from academic excellence. Affiliated to Shivaji University Kolhapur, the institute offers UG Programs in Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Information Technology and Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering and PG Programs in Structural Engineering, Construction Management, Heat Power, Production Engineering, Power System and Information Technology besides the MCA course. All the courses are recognized by AICTE and Government of Maharashtra. Three UG programs are accredited by NBA previously for which the institute has applied for re-accreditation along with the fresh accreditation of remaining programs. The institute is participating in prestigious Govt. of India project, TEQIP III. The institute has gained autonomous status from academic year 2015-16 and decided to implement autonomy for first year and subsequently for higher classes. The institute has applied for re-accreditation of 3 UG courses and fresh accreditation of 2 UG and 6 PG courses.
As a priority of decentralization, institute has some key positions like Dean Academics, Dean R&D, Dean industry interaction and Dean student affairs who take care of overall development of students. The departments are equipped with excellent laboratory facilities. The Central library has over 58525 text / reference books in all the disciplines of engineering. The institute houses all the facilities for education, extra curricular and sports activities in environment friendly campus. The institute also has Gymkhana for nurturing student's co-curricular skills. Besides, every department has its own student association managed exclusively by students for arranging various co-curricular events. "Aavishkar", a National level technical competition, managed by students, showcases their managerial and technical skills. The students have brought laurels to the institute by bagging several awards in technical meets and sports competitions.
The faculty of the institute has received substantial grants from AICTE under MODROB, TAPTEC and IIPC schemes and earned revenue through testing and consultancy over the last 10 years. The faculty is actively involved in guiding UG, PG and PhD students in their research areas. The institute has formulated training policy under faculty development plan to address the training needs. The huge number of training programs organised by the faculty and also their participation in recent time has been noteworthy. The Department of Civil Engineering has grown from strength to strength and has been one of the pioneering departments in imparting quality education in the country. The Department offers undergraduate program with an intake of 60 and Two Post Graduate programmes. The Department also provides R&D and consultancy services to various public and private sector organizations. The Department received research and modernization grants from TEQIP, DST and AICTE. The Department possess well qualified faculty with wide experience and exposure in teaching, research and consultancy.
Rajkiya Engineering College, Azamgarh (Formerly Manyawar Knshiram Engineering College of Information Technology) was established by Government of Uttar Pradesh wide letter no 394/solah-1-2007-13(37)/2007.The college has started offering B.Tech. programme in three disciplines - Information Technology, Mechanical Engineering and Civil Engineering (with intake of 60 seats in each) from the session 2010-11.
The aim of the College is to provide education, to conduct original research of the highest standard and to provide leadership in technological innovation for the industrial growth as well as infrastructural development of the state & country.
The College is a constituent college of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (Formerly U.P. Technical University Lucknow) UP.
The admission to this College was started in the year 2010-2011 through State Entrance Examination of UP. The entire function of the college was being organized in the campus of Madan Mohan Malaviya University of Technology Campus Gorakhpur till June 2016. The academic session 2016-17 was started from its own campus at Deogaon, Azamgarh 55 Kms from Azamgarh Head Quarter.
The College applied for the AICTE approval in January 2017 as per the BOG decision and got approval letter from AICTE.Department of Civil Engineering
Civil engineering is one of the oldest fields of engineering that deals with the planning. Construction and maintenance of fixed structure or public works. Which are related to earth , water or civilization and their processes of development. Majority of project like power plant, bridge, roads, railways structure water supply irrigation, the natural environment, sewer, flood control transportation and traffic are dealt by Civil engineering.
In essence, its only civil engineering due to which world has progress to the stone era to very recent ages of modern construction.
Currently the department has the intake capacity of 60 in B. Tech program.
